The gentleman was pleased that it was going to someone who appreciated the story of where it came from and I assured him it would be well loved and cared for. Jeff took some pictures of it, so we could print it and keep the information with the shelf. He even showed us a book he put together on the history of the school. When we picked it up, the gentleman who owned it told us all about the piece. He said it was a great piece and we should get it. To his credit, he did not point out my no-spend pledge. I forwarded the link to Jeff and asked if we could go pick it up. The size was right and it’s just the sort of thing I’ve been looking for. Not only will you be getting quality products, it you'll also be supporting one of the nicest business owners you'll ever meet. Besides weapons, he has other martial arts training gear, uniforms, books and videos, and also tea and incense. He is VERY knowledgeable about his stock and can direct you to what you're looking for. Chatted it up a little bit and found out they've been there for 42 years! How awesome is that? Told Bill I was looking for knives, and he proceeded to talk me through his assortment, the different qualities, their composition, etc. Then i went in and met Bill, the owner (or one of the owners). Couldn't tell from the outside that it's an Asian martial arts store. Our famous and delicious combination of spring roll, fried crab meat cheese wonton, fantail shrimp, chicken finger, barbecued riband beef teriyaki steak. Then thanks to Yelp, I came across Dragon Spring. Previously I went to other sporting good stores in Reno and Sparks, but they didn't have the quality nor styles of knives I was looking for. Zumas marble blast is most challenging and best old puzzle classic deluxe legend monster style games. The Zumbla classic, the balls or marbles will come in the Marble and you have to aim your marble shooter carefully to create match three marbles of the same colors in Zuma Deluxe. Highly recommended.□ Zumas Deluxe 2 is a type of Marble shooter games, where you have to marble shoot rows of colorful marble lines to eliminate them. Its steadily progressing stages, as well as its in-game bonuses, create opportunities for extra achievements for players willing to go the extra mile such as shooting through gaps or aiming for specific balls. Zuma boasts easy controls, an intuitive gameplay mechanic, and a visually appealing design–making it a perfect game for a wide range of players. This makes the game less enjoyable, especially for the more competitive players. Of course, as your response and aim improve over time, the latter stages start to become less challenging, making the game boring in the long run. From the first to the last level, you are tasked with the same objective of eliminating the balls. Unfortunately, there’s not much difference between the two game modes, in terms of difficulty, gameplay, or features.Īlso, another shortcoming of the game is its gameplay mechanic doesn’t change. This lets you practice your aim and your response, or you can play the survival mode where the continuous stream of balls gets faster over time. In adventure mode, you get to play through the levels, which are divided into “temples” and “worlds.” On the other hand, the gauntlet mode lets you play any level you’ve previously completed. Zuma has two main modes: Adventure and Gauntlet. This gives the game additional challenges, despite its repetitive gameplay mechanics. Some stages have a longer line of balls while other stages have multiple golden skulls you have to guard against the balls. Also, the game becomes more complicated as it goes on. In terms of gameplay, the Aztec aesthetics give the game a unique identity that has helped it stand out from other games in the genre. Also, there are bonuses such as coins for doing trick shots such as passing balls through gaps in the line or power-ups that slow down the movement of the balls or make them go backward for a short time. Aside from the active ball at the mouth of your frog, you can also see a spare one at its back, allowing you to switch between the two balls to make a better shot whenever possible. Your frog is fixed on a position and can only rotate on its axis. Before this happens, you have to eliminate the slowly-moving balls by completing sets of three or more from your trusty ball-spitting frog. At the end of this path is a sacred golden skull, and once the balls reach this skull, it’s game over for you. Each level has a clearly defined path through which a series of balls pass through. The basic objective of Zuma is to complete levels by making all the balls explode. 4/12/2023 0 Comments 1password psstWhen sharing items, users will receive a unique link that. The new Psst feature allows 1Password users to share passwords and other items securely with anyone, even if they don't use 1Password. Psst allows you to share information with other people securely, even if they don’t use 1Password. "Having the ability to share passwords and other credentials outside of a business or family has been one of our most highly-requested features, and I’m very excited by today’s launch of Psst! as it helps keep everyone, not just 1Password customers, safe online. Jeff Shiner, CEO of 1Password, said in a statement: By default, the link expires in seven days, but I can also choose to let it expire after 30 days, 14 days, one day, one hour, or after a single person views it. All I need to do is open the share menu and select Share to generate a link. The service has launched this new feature alongside its announcement that it now has over 100,000 business customers and that it's growing its employee headcount to 500. Let’s say I want to share that Wi-Fi password with my in-laws. If you choose the latter, the service will require the recipient to confirm their identity by verifying their email addresses before giving them access. You can also choose to share the credentials with anybody who has the link or with specific people only. You can choose how long the link remains valid, from an hour to 30 days, after which it will automatically expire. Psst! allows you to share credentials with anybody by generating a link with the information that other people can access, even if they don't have a 1Password account. In another survey, 1Password found that most families share passwords between members and also use insecure methods, such as writing them down and messaging them to each other. Of those people, 36 percent admitted to sharing log-ins with other workers and clients via insecure channels, including emails, chat apps, spreadsheets, documents and texts. It's called Psst!, which is short for Password Secure Sharing Tool, and it's apparently one of the company's most requested features.īased on a research the company conducted, most workers reuse corporate credentials. 1Password aims to address that with its new feature that gives you a way to share log-in credentials in a secure way even with people who don't have an account with the service. Password sharing in the workplace and at home is a common practice, but doing so securely can be tricky. 4/12/2023 0 Comments Lisa stansfieldLisa would enjoy a successful follow up with “This Is The Right Time” hitting number 13 in the UK and number 1 in the US dance charts, the first of many, and more crucially hitting the top 25 in the Hot 100 and despite being a white girl from Rochdale, Lisa also had a R&B hit in the US. Lisa would soon be cutting a solo path, although her band mates from Blue Zone would remain a vital component of her pop career – she married one of them! In early 1989 with kiss-curl intact (at one point as synonymous with Lisa as the eye patch was to Gabrielle) Lisa would enjoy a big hit with dance outfit Coldcut with “People Hold On”, hitting number 11 in the UK and a top ten dance hit in the US, where Lisa has enjoyed enormous success over the years. Blue Zone’s recordings have recently been re-released on CD. Big things were predicted for their single “On Fire” and it would have been a hit if it had not been withdrawn by the record company in the wake of the tragic Kings Cross Fire.Ī minor hit (number 54) was achieved in 1988 in America with the cover of “ Jackie” (originally recorded by Elisa “Who Found Who” Fiorillo) coincidentally written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly who wrote “Like A Virgin” and “I Drove All Night” to name but two. The group released a number of singles, but none hit the UK charts and neither did their album “Big Thing”. In 1984 she would start her pop career in the group, Blue Zone, although there had been some solo singles beforehand. It would be a few more years before Lisa (born 1966), from Rochdale, would come to my attention. I had a paper round so I never had the pleasure. Many of us grew up with Lisa in the mid 80s, but probably didn’t know it as she was a teenage presenter on Razzmatazz, an afternoon pop show. But nearly 30 years ago, Stansfield breezed into the urban pop world and into the homes of discerning soul fans with a sound that fooled some and pleased millions. She had a quarrel, but is this the right time to re-evaluate Lisa Stansfield, and what is she doing now? She tours occasionally in Europe, and released "Seven," her most recent album, in 2014. Toward the end of the '90s, Stansfield mostly receded from pop and turned her attention to acting. Subsequent follow-ups didn't quite capture the consistency of "Affection," save for Stansfield's 1997 self-titled album, on which she paid tribute to her musical idol White with a faithful cover of his 1974 classic, "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up." She eschewed the noisy, grating production styles so prevalent on the charts at the time for a relaxed, intimate approach that showcased her seductive vocals. "Affection," released when the artist was 24, is a stunningly mature debut, tasteful with arrangements echoing the best of disco and sophisticated soul, all polished by 1990s standards but transcendent of that period nonetheless. It wasn't until she embraced elements of the soul music she loved growing up, particularly the music of Barry White, that Stansfield found her groove. In 1980 at age 14, she won the top prize on "Search for a Star," a singing competition and an early incarnation of an English version of "American Idol." Throughout the decade, she released a handful of singles in various styles, including string-laden pop and slick New Wave, but nothing clicked. Then Stansfield appeared, with lipstick red as cinnamon drop candy and a hairstyle reminiscent of the Roaring '20s, singing of newfound love in a smoky voice backed by fluid strings and aggressive programmed rhythm tracks.īy the time she achieved international stardom at the dawn of the '90s, Stansfield had made a few false starts at a pop career in her native country. The scene then teemed with showy singers and pop video vixens whose vocals were mostly an afterthought. "Affection," the artist's debut, hit the streets in late 1989, thrilling critics and fans who appreciated traces of grit in polished urban music. Aunt Phyl got over her shock and later went out and had her hair cut low and slick with a part on the side, an imitation of Stansfield's style. But unlike the Motown singer-songwriter, Stansfield immediately achieved pop success. We hadn't heard such a smooth, unabashedly soulful sound from a white woman since the rise of Teena Marie a decade before. That year, Stansfield, a British singer-songwriter, scored an inescapable hit: "All Around the World." It topped the R&B chart, a rare feat for a white act. Yet relatives were still shocked by elements of blackness, or uncanny approximations of them, in the mainstream. The "Cosby Show," a black bourgeois fantasy and a Nielsen ratings smash, had been part of our weekly lineup for about five years, and my siblings, cousins and I had long attended integrated schools. It was 1990, and we were in the mid-South, scratching out a life among the ruins of dashed post-civil-rights-era dreams. Phyl snatched the remote off the coffee table and pumped up the TV's volume. 4/12/2023 0 Comments Tyranny book“I will be more than happy if the posters themselves convey its message,” he added. Poster four in the Timothy Snyder On Tyranny campaign. Snyder intended the book be used as “a manifesto and manual” in the fight against rising populism on both sides of the Atlantic, a situation he described as “urgent”. Utilising examples of resistance against Hitler and Stalin, each chapter includes acts of defiance readers can integrate into their daily life. It was prompted, he said, by the shock and sense of helplessness felt by many over recent political developments in the US and UK. In the book, the professor, who specialises in European history and the Holocaust, mixes modern history with practical lessons on how to resist tyranny. He added that it was doubtful such a distillation would have been possible with his previous works, which include Bloodlands and Black Earth, both of which come in at over 400 pages, compared with On Tyranny’s 130. The posters, designed by Vintage creative director Suzanne Dean and her team with students at Kingston University, will appear in sequence on Monday along the road, which is at the heart of the capital’s creative community.ĭescribing the book as “an attempt to distil what I have learned about the 20th century into a guide for action today”, the Yale professor said: “I can’t think of anything like this that has been done with anyone’s work before.” US historian Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny, out next week, is to be reproduced chapter by chapter in a series of 20 eye-catching posters pasted along Leonard Street, near Silicon Roundabout. 4/12/2023 0 Comments Night shift nursesThank you Frank for the advice! Also, compression socks can really help alleviate foot and leg pain if the shoes aren't cutting it.Īnd nightshift is a great place to start as a new grad-the first three hours or so will feel like a total nightmare at first, but 0200-0400, in my experience, is a great time to learn. 4/12/2023 0 Comments Metro exodus gameplayThe scarcity of ammunition, and the need to craft your own, adds a light survival aspect and while there are no stats or dialogue choices the strong narrative drive and exploration also tempts comparison with action role-playing games. They also had an impressively ambitious story (also written by Glukhovsky) that used the setting to meditate on humanity’s propensity for conflict no matter the situation, as the survivors gravitated towards the authoritarian extremes of communism and fascism and absolutely fail to learn the lessons that caused their situation in the first place.ĭespite a wide span of obvious video game influences, including Half-Life 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl, the Metro titles have a very distinct tone that is very much their own. The original games were primarily linear first person shooters, but with a heady mixture of other gameplay styles including stealth and survival horror. :-(īums me out the more I think about it.Based on a series of novels by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the first two Metro games (remastered a while back as double pack Metro Redux) were set in and around the Moscow metro system, where a small group of Muscovites have survived the outbreak of World War III and try to make a life in the tunnels while avoiding the nuclear fallout and lethal mutants above. They don't want multiplayer players spending time in "revenue dead ends" like the original Factions they want them to spend their time (and subsequently in theory) money on their new shiny net that always has something to keep the user coming back.īums me out the more I think about it. And that's no bueno for any company designing a product with an intention to monopolize their user's game playing time and money. And investing resources into that original, pure multiplayer experience means potentially taking away some future potential revenue/time spent in their future multiplayer. With a game design assuredly built with those recurring profit vectors in mind.Ĭan't really get that kind of "recurring profit" with the original Factions multiplayer. WHILE ALSO stripping away that game's original multiplayer for what instead will surely be some kind of Free to Play, wide net thing with tons of vectors to make recurring profit hand over fist. They want to do as minimal work/investment (it's still a lot of work mind you that is justifiably priced imo) as possible to reasonably charge people a flat, one-time $70 to remake of one of the most beloved narrative-driven games in recent times. Really, it's all about the money and having their cake and eating it too. That whatever it is they are working on multiplayer-wise will theoretically render it wholly obsolete, even if that's almost assuredly not going to be true at all as it's most likely going to be an entirely different thing. Yet they are faithfully recreating the single player while just pretending like that original Factions is just a thing of the past that noone should care about at all that it's not worth also bringing up to a higher level of polish and presentation. To me, smartly expanding the campaign and its gameplay mechanics/environments makes sense for a remake of a single player game (ala REmake) but doesn't really make sense for a multiplayer remake. So yeah, I'm now pretty mad as someone who honestly values that game's multiplayer even more than its story. And let's be real, it's not going to, it's probably going to be a quite different thing entirely. Unless whatever they're doing with the splintered off Factions successor title contains the same experience 1-to-1, verbatim as the original game's multiplayer, I'm going to be fucking pissed. But they couldn't apply this exact same philosophy to the component of the game that would definitively benefit MORE from this tack, the multiplayer?" "They took intense care to extremely faithfully recreate the original game in a one-to-one gameplay and narrative fashion but with vastly improved presentation. This game hadn't bothered me at all/I was mostly indifferent to them announcing its existence as a thing.īut now I can't help but constantly and angrily be returning to the thought of: Maximum Scan Area 8.5″ x 11.7″ Epson XP-446 Printer Drivers Optical Resolution 1200 dpi / 9600 dpi interpolatedĬolor Bit Depth 48-bit color / 24-bit output Photoelectric Device Color Contact Image Sensor line sensor Scan features: Scan to Memory Card, Scan to Email (via Epson Connect), Scan to PDF, Scan to Computer (USB and network) Maximum Print Resolution 5760 x 1440 optimized dpiĬopy Quality: Normal, Color, (B/W), Draft ISO Print Speed Color 4.5 ISO ppm / 10.0 ISO ppm (Black) XP-446 Creative Print App – offers users an easy-to-convenient way to be able to print creative, print photos easily using the Print App from anywhere, without networking – even from an iPad/iPhone/Android tablet, or smartphone.Įpson Connect: Epson iPrint App (iOS, Android) / Epson Print and Scan App (Windows) / Creative Print App (iOS, Android) / Epson Email Print / Epson Remote Print Epson XP-446 Specifications Superior quality printing in the world of printing gives maximum print resolution of Up to 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi, thanks to printing technology 4-color (CMYK) drop-on-demand MicroPiezo inkjet technology produces brilliant photo quality or sharp text clear documents.
